Top 10 Christmas Movies

10. Jingle All the Way

This movie is still very good and funny even though it is ranked the worst on this list. The father in this film is trying to make things right with his son and wife. In efforts to do this, he is on a hunt to get his son the best toy, "Turbo-Man". He faces many obstacles and there is humor along with good lessons along the way.

9. A Christmas Carol

This movie is about a man who meets Christmas ghosts from the past, present, and future. His name is Ebenezer Scrooge and he is woken up and told his life story in a very sad, mean way. He is informed of his "dark" past and faced with a choice of dying or redeeming himself. It is kind of scary but also has a very good story line.

8. The Nightmare Before Christmas

This movie is about a skeleton named Jack who is the pumpkin king. He becomes very bored of Halloween and wants to start celebrating something new. He stumbles into a town called Christmas world where he sees life in a new way. Bright lights and colors are bright to him and he begins to love Christmas much more than Halloween, the holiday he was born to celebrate.

7. Miracle on 34th Street

This movie is about a young girl who begins to not believe the myth of Santa Clause. She starts to lose hope in Christmas and declare that Santa is fake. Her mother may be one of the main reasons for this. A man, who claims to be the real Santa, is brought into her life and he brings back her belief in Christmas and Santa Clause. He tells tales and stories that bring back her love and excitement for Christmas. There are two versions of this movie, but I prefer the newer one.

6. The Santa Clause

A divorced father has custody of his son. They are together for the holidays when the father runs over a man in a Santa suit. They are then transported to the North Pole and the father is informed that he has killed Santa and has to take over his job this year. The movie shows his ups and downs as he tries to fill in for Santa.

5. How the Grinch Stole Christmas

There is multiple forms of the Grinch movie, but in my opinion this is by far the best version. The movie follows a big-footed green guy called the Grinch. He lived near a town called Whoville where everyone is obsessed with Christmas, but he hates it. He tried to ruin Christmas for everyone in the town and is rude and crabby throughout the whole movie. By the end, he transforms into a caring living guy who loved Christmas. He finally shows his true colors. This is a film for people of all ages.

4. National Lampoon's: Christmas Vacation

Christmas Vacation is a movie about a family and their Christmas adventures. It starts out by showing them getting a Christmas tree and follows them through the holiday season up to their interesting family-Christmas experiences. The whole film is based on their family's struggles. It is extremely hilarious and relatable. This is another movie that is a perfect family film.

3. Elf

Elf is also a Christmas classic. It is about a human baby named Buddy that was raised in the North Pole by elves. Eventually, Buddy realizes that he doesn't really fit in at the North Pole and that he needed to move out into the real world where he belonged. He traveled to New York to find his father and once he finds him, he moves in with him and his new family. Buddy struggles to adjust to his new life, but once he does everyone is so happy. This movie is a mixture of funny and cute and is just overall a very good film.

2. Home Alone 2: Lost in New York

Although I think the first Home Alone is better, Home Alone 2 is also very good. In this film, Kevin gets lost in the airport and is left alone in New York without his family again. Once he arrives in New York, he runs into his two biggest enemies once again, Harry and Marv. His uncle has a house there so he goes to stay there and the two men follow him. He then performs pranks and tricks on them in this house instead. The pranks are different and creative and once again extremely humorous.

1. Home Alone

In my opinion, Home Alone is the best Christmas movie of all time. The main character, Kevin, is left at home alone and two men named Harry and Marv try to break into his home. They have no idea he is home because they figured he was with the rest of his family on vacation. The whole movie consists of pranks and tricks that Kevin pulls on these two men. It is full of humor and laughs and makes for a great movie to watch with your family.
